Online Dating: If You Are Traveling, Why Pretend That You Are Looking For A Relationship?

People who do this may worry that if they were to be honest about the fact that they are looking for something short term, this would turn you off of them.

They know that you are online dating for a particular reason.

You would think that they should have no issues with being honest about the kind of relationship that they are looking for on their dating profile as opposed to pretending, after all, there are most likely other people who are also looking for casual encounters using the dating app.

However, you keep coming across people who are clearly traveling and couldn’t possibly be looking for something serious and yet they enter that they are looking for something serious in their dating profile.

Again, these people are often worried that you wouldn’t consider talking to them if they didn’t include that they are looking for a serious relationship on their dating profile.

Being that they are only going to be at your location for a short while, they figure that they have nothing to lose.

If they send you a message on the dating app and you respond, they now have an opportunity to see whether this will lead to a physical meeting that could end up with some kind of physical intimacy.

Again, being that they know that they will only be at your location for the duration of their travel, they have very little risk in this maneuver.

If you don’t respond to them on the dating site, they will simply send a message to someone else that they find attractive until they receive a response.

The person in question doesn’t know that this person is being dishonest in writing that they are looking for a serious relationship in their dating profile.

They are assuming that this person is being truthful.

That is how they fall into the person’s trap.

If there is a meeting arranged, it is done under the guise of true interest as opposed to something casual.

The deceiver may score and leave the person who was misled feeling used when they discover that the deceiver is no longer responding to their messages.

This is a common occurrence when it comes to online dating.

Some of the people who are dishonest in their dating profile in pretending to be looking for a serious relationship may have initially sought out other people who were looking for casual encounters on the dating app.

However, they may not have liked what they saw.

After looking through as many dating profiles as they could find of people who wrote that they were looking for a casual encounter and being dissatisfied with what they found, they gave up.

They decided to broaden their search to those who were looking for serious relationships.

They most likely found much better prospects in that category and decided to message these prospects.

Again, they know that they don’t really have that much to lose.

The person doesn’t know that the deceiver is being dishonest about seeking out a serious relationship.

By the time the person discovers this, they may have already slept with the deceiver and is now being ghosted.
