Why Aren't People Honest About What They're Looking For On Dating Sites?

It can appear as though people aren’t honest about what they’re looking for on dating sites.

However, oftentimes, this happens because quite a few people join dating sites without knowing what they are actually looking for.

Hence, they may have a perfunctory approach to dating sites when they first join.

They may not think it through before they include what they think that they are looking for when they first join dating sites.

Others may have a vague idea of what they are looking for and include that.

However, upon interacting with some of these people, you may eventually get to the point where you realize that they have not been honest about what they’re looking for.

This can be frustrating for you.

You have put in some time and energy in this person, only to ultimately discover that the person wasn’t honest about what they were looking for on the dating site.

People who do this may have simply joined dating sites because all of their friends are doing it.

They may have joined because they are single and think that it would be nice to start meeting other singles.

However, they may not even know if they want to be in a relationship at this time.

Hence, there are going to be people who join dating sites with no real idea of what they want.

These people simply input whatever comes to mind as what they’re looking for on dating sites, but they have never actually thought it through.

Some people also aren’t honest about what they’re looking for on dating sites because they may want to conform with what the majority of the other people on the dating sites are saying that they are looking for.

For example, they may have been looking through dating profiles and noticed that the majority of the dating profiles of people on these dating sites stipulate that they are looking for serious relationships.

Upon noticing this, they may feel a sense of pressure.

If they were to be honest about the fact that they aren’t looking for a serious relationship by stipulating as much on their dating profile, they worry that they wouldn’t get many messages, if any.

Being that the majority of the dating profiles that they have found are stipulating the desire for serious relationships, they may be worried about being left out if they were to be honest in their dating profile about only wanting a casual relationship.

Hence, in order to fit in, this person may state that they are looking for a serious relationship as well.

They simply don’t want to be left out of meeting someone, even if that person may be meeting them in the hopes of finding a serious relationship.

In doing this, these people who aren’t honest about what they are looking for are often thinking about their short-term gain.

They aren’t considerate of the other person who may invest the time and emotion on them while believing that they are both looking for a serious relationship.

A person can often maintain this kind of dishonesty for as long as the other person continues to fall for it.

Once the other person catches on to the fact that this person has not been honest about what they are looking for, the person will often move on to someone else to deceive.
